    50/50

This was a part of my application for Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KHiB). The assignment was to interpret a set of numbers. I choose the number combination 50/50. I got inspired by an article I had read online a while back. It was about the Indonesian fisherman Dede Kosawa who had a rare skin disease that had devolved so violently that it seemed like roots on his arms and legs. Doctors say some of the outgrowths weighed 6 Kg. The headlines in the papers where as follows: “Treeman”, “Wooden man” and ”Half man, half tree”. So I decided to create a portrait of him. I used wood as my main material. I also used stain, ink, marker pen and a little bit of glue from a glue gun.
